Re: January 2010 Make Your Writing Dreams Come True Challenge
@Debbie: My netbook is an HP Mini and I LOVE it! Even "fully equipped" it was only about $500 and it is so much better than the bulky widescreen laptop it replaced. I can carry this around in a good sized shoulder bag. It has a decent-sized keyboard for a netbook, some models I looked at m...

Re: November 2009 Just Do It Challenge - Who's In?
Well my November challenge hit a bit of a SNAFU over the weekend. My goal for the month was to write 2,500 words a week of draft article material ON TOP OF the 50,000-word novel I'm trying to get done for NaNoWriMo. As of Saturday I had about 1,300 words worth of article material and 4,500 words int...

NaNoWriMo Anyone?
With the amount of prolific writers here I wonder why I haven't yet heard mention of NaNoWriMo? National Novel Writing Month - www.nanowrimo.org. I was wondering if this might tie in to the monthly challenges? Instead of writing a novel, why don't we set an article word-count goal for the month of N...

Re: RSS Feeds and Two Cool Uses!!!
Creating twitter accounts for the CC categories is genius promotion! I also use Twitterfeed (www.twitterfeed.com) to automatically tweet my new articles. I created a special twitter account just for my writing persona and I have my articles and blog posts automatically tweeted for me. I also use Twi...

Re: What is Your Selling Strategy?
I wouldn't call it a selling strategy, but I've recently decided on a different writing - and life - strategy. I want to start focusing my writing in on some very specific niches of health; namely fitness, nutrition, and weight loss. They may sell or they may not, but what's important to me is that ...

Re: May 2009 Shining Short Summaries Challenge - Who's In?
I have to agree with Barry. I always slip into "cheesy salesperson" mode when I write my summaries. I do try to give them the attention they deserve. You're not just explaining what is in the article, you are telling a browsing customer why they need to buy it. Sometimes I add suggestions ...

When in doubt about formatting problems I think a good first step is to revert to a plain text format. Regardless of your operating system, you should have a program for plain text documents. In Windows look for "Notepad" under the "Programs > Accessories" menu. Copy and paste yo...

Re: Use of name
I do not believe the customers get our names from the document they purchase. There is no embedded information in a txt or rtf document. From what I can tell the customers are provided our first and last names as we have them filled out on the "My Account" page. This is definitely a proble...

Sometimes I feel like making a blog that highlights all of the bad eLance jobs that are posted every week, but then I'd be too busy to get any other writing done! My husband and I both use eLance, myself as a writer and he as a programmer. We see unrealistic jobs like this all the time. Well, I wish...

Hi from the East Coast! With your experience I'm sure you'll do fine with Constant-Content, just don't let your experience make you a know-it-all if you get a rejection. I think Lord Byron would get a rejection or two if he were to write here. I've never been chastised for using British vs. American...

Thanks for the encouragement Ed. I actually decided I would push through and finish the article, and I'm pretty content with the result. I did have a problem with the title when I submitted it; an error that the title was already in use. I just added a bit of text after the official title. I hope th...

Re: Proofreading Forum?
It appears that this forum is running PHPBB. I believe that there is an ability in most recent versions to create private or hidden forums. Only registered and logged-in users even see the forum, but I'm not 100% sure if that protects from search engine spiders. Anyway, that's something for your web...

I'm a procrastinator and a nitpicker, so I rarely attempt to write for the public requests. I was, however, intrigued by the recent request for an article on Michelle Obama. The request asked "The story should take a real hard look at her, not a nicey nice story to appease her fan base." I...

Re: Pricing of articles - Who is selling for $1 - $5?
It is very disheartening to see content sold here for so little. With any luck it will not become commonplace. Perhaps it's just someone liquidating old article stock?
Also keep in mind that in some countries earning just a few dollars a day in USD can provide a comfortable life.
