Re: Deleting Article

Hey, I just discovered that after hitting the delete button there was another action I had to take, like confirming that I wanted to delete it - didn't see that statement at the top of the page.

Sorry to bother everybody!

Deleting Article

Hi, All!

Haven't posted lately as I'm recovering from a bad back thing. Starting to get back in the groove, though.

Had a question - I want to remove an article from CC. I tried the delete button, but nothing happened. Anybody know how to remove an article from the site?

Thanks,

Rick

Re: sales disappeared

Does anyone know when the full use and unique rights will be re-assigned to our articles that were stolen and used on AC? I'm guessing there are still issues to be resolved about ownership before this happens? Sorry, Ed, if this has been addressed or is being addressed elsewhere or if I should conta...

Using Articles in Portfolio

Hi, All - Does anyone know the best way we can credit articles sold through CC as publishing credits in our portfolio when we're marketing our work elsewhere - like, say, to periodicals? I'd like to be able to say I've published such and such articles and where they've been placed. Is there a way to...

Re: Funniest Typo?

Don't know about being funny, but one of my pet peeves is all the editors of modern books (fiction or non-fiction, it doesn't matter) that just do spell check and nothing else. Actually copy editing the books must be a dying art. I guess the authors don't read their galley copies that closely, eithe...

Re: What is your CC "Eureka" moment?

Way to go! CC can be confusing to get used to, there's info scattered everywhere. Your fellow writers are great at answering any questions and alleviating any concerns you might have. I've found a checklist compiled from tidbits gleaned from the author's tutorial, writer's guidelines, submittal guid...

Re: What is your CC "Eureka" moment?

Just sold one right after Ed's review. What a surprise! I wasn't even sure it was marketable - it's a stand alone article, but I wrote it with the intent of writing a series, so maybe I can make a bit more on the idea. Got paid for January. It wasn't much, as I joined in January and only sold two ar...

Oops, just thought of another question if ya'll are still in the question-answering mood. Is there a way to add a sidebar to an article?

Thanks again.

Re: Satire

Hi, Ed & Barry -

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll let it lay for now. It had to do with the recent economic debacle, nothing racist, sexist or any other politically incorrect -ist (unless you count elitist). Seems more trouble than it's worth, especially if it won't sell.

Thanks!

Satire

Hi, Folks -

What is the rule for writing satire for CC? Is using fictional characters (who are composites of real "types") considered taboo in making a satirical point?

Appreciate your advice!

Re: Wordsplosion!

The one I have trouble with is accept/except. No matter how many times I use one of these, I have to look up the meaning to make sure I've picked the right one. Another pet peeve - whenever someone says "___ in color" (i.e. "red in color"). Happens a lot in radio car commercials....

Re: Don't You Wish You'd Thought of That First?

That was hilarious. In a (somewhat) similar vein, I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said, "I'll keep my guns, my freedom, and my money. You can keep the ' "change" '. Lots of times I've found myself saying that I could have thought of that. Most times it involves money somebody el...

Re: Please Read

(continued from previous post) Keep learning. Like a miner exploring a played-out dig, I've uncovered wealth I never suspected was there - and realized I've forgotten a lot of what I thought I knew. Sentence structure, using commas, trimming words. All there for the prospecting. So don't hurry. Thin...

Re: Please Read

Hi, All - Ed makes a good point. I'm a new writer, and CC can be confusing to navigate. One thing I found helpful was to make a checklist. Go through the site (the FAQ, Writer's Guidelines, Forums, Blog, anything you can find) and list every item you can find on submitting work that's right. Items d...
