Has Anyone Been Paid Yet?
I know it's only the 3rd, but I'm getting antsy. It takes a while for the money to transfer from PayPal to my bank account and I gots me some bills to pay! :) btw, hi everybody! It's been ages since I posted anything here. Been so busy with a million other things (web design jobs and being made an o...

Re: Articles Stuck in Client Review?
That happened to me around March 29 and after 5 days I contacted support. They put my article into the public queue soon after. I'm guessing a bug in the system if it's this widespread.

Re: CC purchase rating in emails about public requests
I'm glad to hear some people have had positive results. I usually only respond to a 0 rating if I already know something about the subject. Responding to a public request can get your work approved faster, so even if the customer doesn't read it, the article's out there

Re: CC purchase rating in emails about public requests
That would be a nice addition. So far every article I have submitted to a customer with a 0 purchase rating has not only not been purchased, but not even looked at by that customer. Also, when I check back in the Requested Content list, the 0 rating customers don't seem to ever buy anything. What ha...

Re: Customer public request asked for refund
This happened to me once and Support passed on the customer's remarks to me, so they may let you konw if you ask. In my case it was a quiz and I hadn't posted the whole article. The customer didn't believe the scoring made sense. This customer had bought several other quizzes from me previously. Gue...

Re: Singular they - subjects and matching pronouns
AP style requires "it" whnever you talk about pets unless the pet is named. So (paraphrased)... "Keep your pet inside so it will be safe." "Keep Scruffy inside so he will be safe." Since I treat my dogs like people, I have problems with AP style. I'd probably just make ...

Re: Fiction
Some of the stories/book chapters I have been reading and critiquing on the other CC have such great plots and characters, I just want to grab them and rewrite them all! I think maybe I should be an editor or ghost writer. The temptation is so strong. Not to steal, that's not what I eman, but just t...

Re: Fiction
WC, curse you for posting that link. I spent my whole evening reading and critiquing stories and chapters! I submitted a chapter from one of my books too. I love commenting on other people's fiction, but I should be writing more and critiquing less! And now Amy posts another crit link! Aaaaaaah! :mr...

Re: Attempted My First Submission
Perhpas the editor was referring to the Long Summary in the submission form. Sometimes what looks like double-space in a Word document looks single-space in the Long Summary.

Or direct the customer to your CC bio. Of course that means you have to write one if you haven't already done so

Re: When to hold, when to fold?
Put it away for a week and then look it over. I bet the awkward wording will leap out at you then. I doubt you would get booted for comma errors or wording issues if you've already had several articles accepted and some sold. If the editors see that you are making a concerted effort to improve your ...

Re: Sent a private request via message system ... help!
You can ask the customer to make a formal private request OR you can put a note in your summary to Ed that your article (collection of blurbs) is for a specific customer as requested. Mark the article as a "Not for a request" (since there won't be one to choose from) but then choose the &q...

Melinda,
Have you seen the webisodes of "Ctrl" at Hulu? An office drone discovers that his keyboard can undo, copy-and-paste, etc. in real life. Wouldn't that be great?

Re: Brain freeze!
Just "lie back and think of England" i.e., just give yourself up to the process and stop trying to control it. Put your fingers on the keyboard, disconnect your brain, and write, write, write. Don't stop for anything. Once you've written at least 400 words, stop, save the file, and then wr...

Re: My First Private Request
That's up to you. I was just reacting to the phrase "decent-sounding price (better than $7 per 100 words, anyway)" I guess you meant better-sounding to the customer, not to you. I guess you will need to put several 100-word blurbs in one article to meet CC's $7 minimum pricing.
