Re: Pricing for public request articles
Debbi, I think "Are You a Sociopath?" would be a great quiz. He did say the topics could be "anything" and some could be humorous. I thought about jumping on this but was working on other things and didn't have any great ideas. Now I'm not doing it because I've seen so many have ...

Re: Article Submission Problem
So the problem is just spacing?
I've had that before. I just manually fix it so that it looks the same in the text box as it does in the Word document.

Re: Write or DIE!
Hayley, Oh, I'm not advocating slapdash work here - though I can see how it sounded like I was. The "basics of healthy living" assignment was one of those rare articles I felt I could write off the top of my head (though if it doesn't sell, I'll know otherwise, obviously). Write or Die is ...

Write or DIE!
I just made an AMAZING discovery. It's a bit of software called "Write or Die." Check it out here: http://writeordie.drwicked.com/ You enter how many words you want to write and set a time limit - say, 500 words in 20 minutes. You write. While you're writing, a progress bar shows how close...

Re: November 2009 Just Do It Challenge - Who's In?
Ah, I like this challenge, Celeste. Count me in. My goal is to submit a minimum of 18 articles per week, with the net for each article averaging $15 or more. Since I'm a bachelor with no kids and a modest lifestyle, I could actually live on that as a minimum. Hopefully my earnings will exceed it, th...

Celeste,
Fun stuff! So did 12Seconds provide the pumpkin graphics or do you have to do stuff like that yourself? (I assume it's the latter.)

Re: Tips for Keeping the Nose to the Grindstone?
Debbi, Yeah, it was the "Healthy Changes" article for the "Changes" public request. I still haven't gotten an e-mail from C-C saying that my article has been sold. I was just browsing the "Recently Sold" page while talking to my sis on the phone last night and saw my ti...

Thanks, Hayley and Lysis!
This has been really invigorating - this thread, the sale, the info about other sites. The possibilities are endless!

Re: Tips for Keeping the Nose to the Grindstone?
Lysis, Oh no - you have to have a degree to write for Livestrong? I just checked out DS yesterday, sent my resume and writing sample in this morning ... but, as a college drop-out, I may be limited in what assignments I can get. I've also been accepted at Suite 101 but haven't started submitting the...

Re: Tips for Keeping the Nose to the Grindstone?
Aw, thanks Debbi. Until I start actually getting some sales, I may need to stockpile biscuits. Pats on the head are nice too.

Re: Tips for Keeping the Nose to the Grindstone?
Debbi - I hesitate to answer because I don't know how CC feels about us discussing other content sites on this message board, but the set-up is so different that I don't think the two sites really compete - for authors, anyway. (Clients would be a different story.) For myself and probably other begi...

Re: Tips for Keeping the Nose to the Grindstone?
Thanks for all the great tips so far ... Actually had a pretty productive morning, I must say. Being a bachelor with no kids has its advantages, but I sometimes think responsibilities like that would focus and motivate me more. The threat of poverty is getting pretty real though - I just got my &quo...

Re: Tips for Keeping the Nose to the Grindstone?
Thanks, Debbi. So the actual time you spend writing is 4 hours a day, huh? I think I trip myself up saying I need to write for 4 or even 8 hours straight. Then I write for a couple of hours, get distracted, drift away - and then get down on myself for not reaching the goal, which may not have been r...

Re: Wordsmiths, please help!
My Spider sense tells me you're over-thinking this and that your first instinct - catchiness - was the right one. What kind of "business" is this business article for? One of my closest friends is a Chief Marketing Officer and I can't imagine him being put off by the "informality"...
