Disappearing Downloads

Very odd.... the past couple of times I have tried to download new files from a public pool requester we have worked for many times before, the info goes flying off into the CC logo at the top left corner, never to be seen again! For months I've had no trouble locating downloaded files waiting patie...

Re: File extensions

I use Mac O/S and Word. The funny part is I have submitted almost 30 articles over the past few months and have not ever encountered this problem. That's what has me so puzzled. As far as I know, none of my settings had changed. The second time I submitted, I chose 'rtf', thinking that might fix wha...

File extensions

First, a big apology for submitting an article with the same error twice. But honestly, I checked very carefully that I had selected rtf on the second submission, yet the article was again rejected for no file extension. Since I have not (knowingly) changed any settings, I am at a loss to figure out...

Re: Short Term Housing Question

Evelyn, thanks so much for a very detailed and understandable explanation. I can say it made me feel better to find that maybe the term "landing page" is used carelessly in some cases. I still think of myself as really new to the whole concept of online writing and I am completely out of t...

Re: Short Term Housing Question

Okay, I tried to figure this out on my own rather than revealing my ignorance for the world to see, but I cannot understand exactly what a landing page is and why one would write differently for it than any other page. Is it more specific? In the case of "corporate suites", for example, ho...

Re: Short Term Housing Question

I wondered the same thing but decided to submit individually though it was something of an organization problem for me. I also figured that a really good writer would probably land the prize and then mine could sit there to be sold individually at some future date....maybe. ( I had just had one sell...

Re: Affiliates (recruited authors)

Ah, that clears it up! Thanks so much. Really amazing what great and prompt attention is given to even the smallest questions. And with that I'll ask another: as I was poking around the site today, I stumbled upon a section something like "suggested topics" but all were from 2008. It seeme...

Re: Affiliates (recruited authors)

My question is simply this: how do I use my affiliate code when recommending another writer? Do I copy/paste into a personal email to them? Or is that code supposed to be "clickable" and mine isn't "clicking." This sounds silly (even to me) but I read somewhere in the forum maze ...

Re: Has anyone used Lulu.com?

I looked at lulu.com as well but had the impression that using the service was free to writers and that lulu made money from sales, if/when those happen. But this does lead me to something else I've wondered about for some time: are there "general guidelines" or "rule of thumb" f...

Re: How Much Do You Charge for Editing?

Okay, so now I'm not going to feel like I overcharged at $10/hour for proofreading someone's family history! Of course, that's not as involved as editing I know, but still 150 pages single-spaced genealogy was like reading DNA code for the most part. Interesting to read that someone has done editing...

Re: Sold my first article!

I'm doing the happy dance for all those with 'first sales' to report! What a rush and that's exactly how I got so addicted to this concept, but it's not a bad addiction and I have no plans to break it anytime soon! Reading about the sales is fun; reading about those who are unemployed is disturbing....

A few questions...

Hi, I have tried to find this info elsewhere but being unsuccessful landed here! Hope I am not doing anything out of line! First, I am trying to give myself a "progress report" and wondered if there is anything like a "normal" curve of success in selling, based on number of artic...

It's TRUE! It's exciting! Sold one!

Not only is this a thrill, but now I feel like I have paid my dues for the articles I sent with errors! I really expected the next time I heard from CC it would be a message saying, "please quit bothering us!" and instead it was the coveted "your article sold!" Wow, zero to 60 in...
