Re: Article Rejected
The text-to-speech function is also something that I find helps pick out the errors which have escaped my notice. The voice on the software I downloaded sounds very like Stephen Hawking, and I kid myself that he's proofreading for me. I used this approach for my last couple of articles and...

Re: usage price, unique price, full-rights price
Thanks everyone, it's an interesting topic and clear that everyone has their own ideasabout what is, and is not, the best way. CC's ability to support author preference by giving us some control over our options is part of what makes it such an appealing site to write for. I don't agree that accepti...

Re: usage price, unique price, full-rights price
If I might hijack this thread for a moment to also ask a question about pricing... I have only posted a few articles thus far, and in the last two days have received offers on two of them. (I understand this is not a confirmed sale even if I accepted them.) The first is a very low offer for use. If ...

Re: Anxious newbie here!
"These courses are expensive and getting a job without them is not going to be easy and, in some places, impossible." The original sentence is awkward and actually doesn't scan very well. At the very least I would have suggested a change to: "These courses are expensive and getting a ...

Re: Multiple Articles: Single Topic
Of course, but whereas some topics are diverse enough to provide many angles, others are a little more limited in scope and I wasn't really sure what CC's guidelines were on too much crossover in content (even when worded differently). I can understand why sites which pay per article wouldn't want t...

Multiple Articles: Single Topic
As a newbie I'm still getting to grips with CC, and have a question regarding the submission of multiple articles featuring a single topic. Jewellery is a speciality of mine, but I am worried that it may not be "the done thing" to submit a few articles exploring different facets of a topic...

A Thank you
Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but I just wanted to say a little "thank you" to the CC Editors. I was worried that my lack of technical skill would work against me here, but they have thus far been generously tolerant. They have consistently provided me with the necessary const...

Re: Homeschooling....
As someone who, like Jadedragon, experienced a mixture of home schooling and normal schooling, I agree wholeheartedly that social interaction is something which requires extra attention. Particularly ensure that children have the opportunity to mix with others without their parents around - whether ...

Re: Freelance work on resumes
If you have work printed in a notable publication it can sometimes be worth adding the title of the article when listing freelance work. I would only suggest doing this on a CV specifically designed for literary or media jobs though. The information is irrelevant to most employers, but if a job you ...

Hello everyone
Hi, I really should have posted in here sooner, but here goes... My name's Kate, I'm 24 and from the south coast of England. I've been selling my writing since I was fifteen when a website asked to purchace a short fictional piece which I had written as GCSE coursework. Once I discovered how much I ...

Re: Questions for the Regulars
Thank you everyone! I submitted another piece and this time my concerns regarding my lack of technical proficiency were proven justified. Fortunately the editor who reviewed the work was very helpful in identifying the couple of areas that required attention and I hope that the piece will be accepte...

Re: Questions for the Regulars
Thank you Jadedragon and Antonia. :) I'll admit that I did rush in rather with submitting - though only with one article at a time - because I didn't realise how high the standard is here. I suppose I've grown a little cavalier about my writing being "good enough" without double or triple ...

Questions for the Regulars
Hello everyone, I'm new to writing for CC, though have been registered for a while. I submitted my first article recently in response to a public request which caught my eye. It was rejected initially because of an error in the category I submitted it under (I blame unfamiliarity with the process th...
