Re: About the public request section...

Hi Jessica! In my experience, it's preferable to go slightly over the word count rather than be under it. 328 would be fine, but I'd add another sentence if your word count is at 285, to use your example. You will see some requests with keyword information. If it's not mentioned in the description, ...

Re: Formatting Problems

To make sure that I'm double-spacing between paragraphs in a way that will transfer to the CC form when I copy and paste for a text sample, I hit shift+enter twice when I'm going to start a new paragraph. That way there is a single-spaced line between the paragraphs, regardless of how Word is set up...

Re: Is Constant Content unusually slow right now?

I also wonder if writers wanting to make a little extra money for the holiday season are submitting a bit more right now. Wouldn't blame them! :)

Re: Are editors costing this site business?

Getting articles returned for nuanced changes is frustrating, but that’s the nature of it. If the editors start making changes on formatting and grammar here and there, the general quality of articles at first-submission stage will start to suffer. I know that I read and re-read submissions here sev...

Re: Just got my first offer

I'm sorry you're dealing with that frustrating feeling! My first sale was the same thing - they offered me a low number. I accepted it, but in hindsight I wish I hadn't. I know it feels discouraging, but keep going! In the future I might add the "best offer" function back in if articles ar...

Yikes! I'm glad you caught this, and jadedragon, your response on the forum was excellent. I hope they force him to remove his posts.

Re: Submission box font?

I've never been able to specify the font on the submission page. The only font I really worry about is the one in the document I upload, but otherwise I'm pretty sure it will default to courier on the submission form.

I hope this helps, or somebody corrects me if I'm wrong!

All Requests listed as EXPIRED?

When I go to the Requested Content page, they're all noted as EXPIRED in red letters, even if their end dates haven't passed. Is this indicating something bad about my account, or is anyone else seeing this?

Re: Getting That First Sale

Congratulations!! What an awesome feeling! I'm trying to be patient, but am beginning to wonder if something about my writing is unappealing to buyers. I'm not giving up, yet. Just going to start writing about different topics and see if I can't generate some interest somewhere! I've also been readi...

Re: Getting That First Sale

Well, good news. I got an offer on an article. It was unfortunately on the low end, but I accepted it just because I want to have at least ONE sale to feel like things are moving in the right direction. Most of my articles don't have the "best offer" ticked, but this particular article was...

Re: Getting That First Sale

I also have 8 accepted and still no sales! I'm going to keep writing, as well. I'm just getting frustrated trying to think of what I could write that someone might want to buy!

I'll feel a lot better about everything once I sell even just ONE article.

Good luck, Junzhang!

Re: Getting That First Sale

Thanks for the encouraging words, Jak, and thanks for starting this topic, Junzhang! I'm a few weeks in and anxiously awaiting my first sale, as well. I keep hesitating to write more because I don't want to invest a significant amount of time only to have my articles sit and collect internet dust. I...

Open Office RTF and formatting problems?

I just had an article rejected because it was supposed to be a numbered list but the only paragraph with a number was the first. This didn't seem like a mistake I would make (especially after proofreading a few times!), so I downloaded the file on my work computer using Word and sure enough, they we...

Re: Article for Request Still Pending

I submitted my first two articles last week. They're not for requests but it seems most people's turnaround time for reviews is much quicker. I've been chalking the delay up to the editors possibly being away on vacation this time of year, but am starting to wonder if I'm missing something bigger. H...
