Re: 2017 Writing Goals

I want to hit 100 articles on Constant Content before I go off the grid for a few years.* I hope that will be a large enough sample size to test out the site. *I'm moving overseas for a job that strictly forbids moonlighting since my dance card will be full of language learning and cultural developm...

Re: Does CC use a specific dictionary?

Ahh lowdown, one of my favorite words! It seems to me that it would be more helpful to learn the rules of hyphenating words rather than finding out what dictionary CC editors use. It's definitely good advice for everyone to learn the rules of hyphenation. However, in this case, the dictionary does ...

Does CC use a specific dictionary?

Hello Everyone, Do the editors have a specific dictionary they prefer? I get confused with hyphenated words sometimes, and I'd love to have a quick reference to check. What method do you use to determine if a word should be an open compound, closed compound, or hyphenated? Example: "get the low...

Did other people have their energy articles purchased today?

Capitalization Question

How do I capitalize words if I'm dividing a compound proper noun? "The European Union picks cities that reflect the Union's values" or "The European Union picks cities that reflect the union's values" or is poor writing to phrase things this way? Would "cities are picked for...

Is Anyone Else Afraid of Getting Banned?

I'm new to freelance writing and really afraid of my account being permanently banned. I've had three out of four articles come back for (minor) revisions and I'm afraid that I'm going to get banned soon. I'm wondering if I should take a break from submitting here for a few months while I explore ot...

Re: Using CC pieces for a portfolio

The site that I'm fooling around with requires an attachment to build your portfolio. For now I think I will upload a document with a link to my CC portfolio. Thanks for your help Celeste! You're awesome!

Using CC pieces for a portfolio

I'm trying to build an online portfolio. Can I use CC pieces that I'm offering for full rights if I take them out of my portfolio when they sell? I would put them as an image, just like CC, so they stay google-friendly. I'm new to freelance writing and afraid to use anything that hasn't been approve...

Re: My Account Permanently Suspended

I would assume that the Please take this information into consideration for future submissions. In addition, Submission Guidelines should be followed to avoid repeated rejections: is part of a generic form, but you may want to email support if you think it will help you. I don't know the answer to t...

Hyphenation and apostrophes

If I want to describe something as "shaped like a bull's eye," would I say "bull's-eye-shaped," "bull's eye-shaped," or just stick with "shaped like a bull's eye? "

Just Sold My First Article!

Wow! My article was approved this morning and it just sold. I'm frankly amazed. I'm just a college student with no experience writing other than college papers. I am so hooked on this site now! I also have a question about the site: can I rewrite & resubmit the article if the phrasing is complet...

Greetings From A College Student

Hello everyone! I'm new to the world of writing for profit, and very excited to be here! I love the idea of Constant-Content -- I can improve my writing skills while researching topics that I enjoy, and possibly even make some money from it. I also love what I've seen from the community so far. I'm ...

Re: College education for writers???

Many universities offer access to their courses online, for free. You won't get feedback from professors, but you can view or listen to their lectures and access the class notes. This might be an option for you to explore. A good place to start would be iTunesU or MIT Opencourseware (my apologies if...
