Hello - Again!
Hi everybody. I was here earlier in the year and used to lament the editorial processes that required me to submit a piece 4 times before it was finally accepted. It finally was, but I found some offline things that kind of took my focus away from online writing. As a result, I removed my piece and ...

Re: Fifth Rejection : All I ask for is consistency...
I appreciate what you're saying and I hope it's apparent I'm not some simpering crybaby who runs at the slightest difficulty. But I'm not sure you're getting the gist of the problem. I can only assume that whoever edited this before the last editor agreed with my punctuation, because as I said - the...

Fifth Rejection : All I ask for is consistency...
Sigh. I've now had my article rejected five times. I'm prepared to state that I can *somewhat* understand the first three rejections. Those were based on length and formatting issues, which I'd argue Constant Content does a poor job of conveying. Telling potential contributors their article is too l...

Re: Login/Logged Out Problems
@Jarndyce I'd expect CC to log you out after a certain amount of time, so while I'm not dismissing your concern, I would argue that that's just sound administrative practice. What's irksome to me is being logged into the forum, then going back to the main page and having to log in again. Isas approa...

Re: Give people a template.
The suggestion of using a spell checker was to make the editors job easier by indicating there may be problems, not eliminate the requirement for a close read entirely. What I was thinking was that the document would simply be run through the app and flagged in some manner if it exceeded a certain n...

Re: Login/Logged Out Problems
Yep. If I go to the front page, then try and view my profile, it doesn't work.I'm forced to reenter my log/pass every time. LOL... I just tried it in another tab - I copied and pasted this page URL into that new tab, then clicked the logo - BANG - back at the front page and confronting a "Login...

Login/Logged Out Problems
I've actually been having this issue since I first arrived here, using variety of browsers on both Mac and PC platforms. Basically, I log in and if I dare to go back to the main page, I'm no longer logged in. For whatever reason, I am always logged out when I go to the front page. Always. Same goes ...

Re: Second time rejected for same article...
Yes, there is a learning curve, isn't there? I just wasn't prepared for it to take a 3 rejections and counting, over the span of a month. Then to read that some people are effectively banned from submitting after x number of rejections and this whole process just seems a pointless waste of my time. ...

Re: Second time rejected for same article...
I appreciate that there's invariably a reason for everything and that we can disagree on whether it's a good reason or not, but as I've said in response to another posters comments here, CC isn't being quite as precise as they seem to insist its authors be. Saying "put space(s) between paragrap...

Re: Account Suspension Suggestion
Speaking for myself, I'm unnerved and deeply annoyed at the thought of having my article rejected a third time. The first time was because of its length; though if you look at the pricing guidelines, they show pricing for articles of similar length. The second was because my paragraphs weren't space...

Re: Second time rejected for same article...
Well I thought I'd done a fair amount of due diligence in that respect, jak. It's a little off-putting to have a style that's globally recognized amongst researchers and that you're accustomed to writing in (APA) dismissed out of hand. But okay, that's the site's prerogative. Here's the problem thou...

Re: Give people a template.
That's very helpful. Thank you. I'm keeping this handy! But it's not formatted according to the guidelines! Or is it? Here's what Constant Content says about formatting... Format Please professionally format your articles in 12 pt. Times New Roman or Arial black font with single spaced paragraphs an...

Re: Give people a template.
Yeah, we can certainly agree on not ever using Word, but guess what I did? I did exactly as you suggested can't (or shouldn't) be done - I instructed Word to double space the leading under my paragraphs, before I submitted it as RTF. I didn't hit return twice, because in publishing, you just don't d...

Re: Give people a template.
Here's what I'd be doing. All submitted articles in RTF format ONLY. On submission... All articles would first be processed through a PHP based auto spell check library set for UK or US. Fail that and the article's auto-rejected with the author getting a boilerplate "you spellz bad" email....

Second time rejected for same article...
Last week (or was it the week before last? Time seems to drag on when I submit things...) my article was rejected because it was "too long". I'd expected something of a learning curve at this, because it's my first time and like most new things, we've got to expect a few bumps. So my 2500 ...
