Re: pricing
I don't get the email that just went out - make sure it's at least 600 words, but price no more than $50. I get supply and demand and that there will be more bargain hunters than people willing to pay top dollar. But I'm also used to regularly getting $50 for a 600 word article AFTER the 1/3 commis...

Re: How are words counted?
I use MS Word's count. It would take you ages to count all of the characters on a page!

Re: quoting books in articles
I'm also wondering if any authors here interview subjects for articles. If you do, and the articles are on spec, how do you convince someone to do an interview with you when you don't know for certain if the article will sell or where it will be published? Honestly, I wouldn't do interviews for CC ...

Re: Still Working Out My Pricing
I think 14 cents/word is a bit high for a spec piece on CC. You might have better luck pitching it elsewhere, or lowering your price. I think that 5.5 cents per word is a bit low, but it really depends on how long it took you to research and write the article. I generally price my spec pieces at 9 c...

Re: question about recent high volume orders
I've never had this problem in CC, but I often have it in other commissioned work. If an agency or webmaster sets keywords, I will only get paid if I comply exactly with the words, but the punctuation doesn't matter. If I had the keywords in your example, I would end a sentence with solar panels, a...

Re: I'm Scared..Is this site worth it?
THIS SITE IS NOT WORTH IT! Just yesterday I thanked those who encouraged me here and had my 5th article accepted. Three articles were accepted with NO problems. The other 2 listed "wordiness" or "coherence" and were accepted with changes. Today they rejected an article and suspe...

Re: New To Constant Content
Read the submission guidelines, submit one article, and then wait. It can take up to a week, especially for the first few articles. You'll be notified when it's approved or if you need to make some changes. And yes, I know how hard it can be to wait! :D But it's really the best thing that you can do...

Re: WHERE do I submit articles for approval??
Just submit one article at a time. THey'll automatically go into the approval queue, and you'll receive a message when they're approved. Once they're approved, they're automatically included in the general catalogue and are available for sale. Resist the urge to submit all five articles at once! Sub...

Re: New and In Need of Help
It takes as long as it takes. It's taken up to a week for me in the past. And yes, it's reeeeaaaaally hard to wait, especially with your first few articles. But try to be patient, and hold off on submitting any more articles until you get your first one back. Once you've written several articles for...

Yep, I agree! I think that simplicity and clarity are more important than injecting "personality".Lysis wrote:my suggestion is to keep it simple.

Re: Permanent Suspension
If you wrote articles on a revenue-sharing site, then they're no longer original articles. You can't sell them for full or unique rights - they've already been published online. Full and unique rights articles can't exist anywhere online or in print. They have to be fully, 100% original - not just w...

Re: Demonstrative structures, "This," "It," "That."
Even worse, I got booted out of one of the pools. It happened to be one that I sold a serious chunk of my work to without any issues previously. I'm very sorry to hear that. I do think that CC is tightening up their standards with regards to clarity and simplicity. It will take some getting used to...

Re: Who Do I Contact about an Invalid Rejection?
If that's the only editorial note...then why not just fix the numbers and resubmit it? I'm not sure what "awkward numbering" means, so I'd probably just get rid of the numbers altogether and leave it as a list of questions to ask. Your account hasn't been suspended. You've just had an arti...

Is there any way to know if you've submitted to a request?
I wrote an article for a writer pool request yesterday, but it hasn't been approved yet. Three articles that I submitted after that one have already been approved. I'm wondering if maybe I accidentally forgot to earmark it for the request, in which case it may languish in the review queue for a whil...

Re: How do you girls and guys manage revisions?
I would find out what the revisions are. If they aren't too time-consuming, I would do one set of revisions for free. But any more than that, and I think that I would tell him that the price will have to change to reflect the extra time. You might not get any more private requests for that buyer - b...
