Accepting offers
Another "getting to know the system" issue: One buyer has made me an offer for an article. I changed the status to 'accepted' from the drop-down box, but the article doesn't show up under 'Your Recently Sold Content', my account, or anywhere else. Is there anything else I'm meant to do to ...

Yes, the dialect thing can be tricky. You'll generally get away with spelling variations, but sometimes there are different grammatical and punctuation conventions between US/UK/Australian English which the editors may or may not accept. From my experience so far, it's a little hit-or-miss. If you d...

HTML on submission page?
When submitting an article, can we use HTML tags in the short summary and/or content detail fields of the submission page to allow italics and other formatting?
Just wondering--thanks in advance for any replies!

You do children's books too! :D Well, to be frank I'm a little surprised that I was asked to illustrate a children's book - I wouldn't have thought my style of art worked with that. (You can see some of my work here if you like.) Most of my work these days is digital - it's like working with paint t...

Hi there, and welcome! You're certainly in a good place if writing is your thing - what sorts of things do you like to write about? Always nice to meet a fellow illustrator as well... although perhaps I shouldn't be calling myself that yet, because I've only just received my first true illustration ...

Thanks for the well-wishing! So, if you're into the archaeological stuff... have you ever heard of Catal Hoyuk? It's an amazing site in Turkey that some consider to be the world's oldest city (those who disagree are generally those who have different ideas of what counts as a city). What's really co...

I tell most people that I'm a semiotician, although perhaps that defines my approach more than anything else. (Semiotics, if you are unfamiliar, is the study of meaning and the things it attaches itself to. Linguistics is a subset of it, but while I've done a fair amount of work with linguistics, I ...

Have you seen the Writer Help section yet? You can find it here: http://www.constant-content.com/area/help.htm That should tell you how you can submit articles. As far as knowing what's likely to sell, once you register as an author you can access a section called Recently Sold Content which lists t...

Dialects and style
I was reminded recently of what happened a few years ago when I got a job as a copy editor. The company that employed me was based in the US and expected me to work according to American conventions for written English - but I grew up learning the British rules. It quickly became evident that there ...

Category trouble
I wrote a piece in response to this request: http://www.constant-content.com/index.php?account=view_request&id=2350 ...but I have no idea what category I should use for submitting it. It is a fictional letter setting up a scavenger hunt, so it is not an article, review, blog entry or tutorial. '...
