Re: article ideas
"Without the spammers, I'd never know where to get fake Rolexes. " Now that sounds like something you could write. I suppose you could use spam to get ideas. I use another email account as a spam trap mostly. But I check it for article ideas. There really is a ...

I agree it's good to have this stuff in one place.

Perhaps if General could be a "hidden" forum so all the stuff isn't seen? Or let people know "General" is a spam trap?

Without the spammers, I'd never know where to get fake Rolexes. :)
I hope I get there soon. I have 5 articles up and 4 more waiting to be considered.

I wonder if gaming sells at all here. That's what most of my articles are about
I've sold usage on one article on MMORPGs.

May I publish a piece after selling Usage rights?

Let's say I write a restaurant review and get it accepted by CC. If I don't offer full/exclusive rights, can I later put that piece of writing on the Web myself? Just a weird exception that I didn't see accounted for--unless CopyScape is able to freely travel the time/space continuum.

Hi Sanjay, and welcome, by the way. The link is in the "author links" area once you've logged in--it's the one that says Requested Content. I was about to write a little primer for newbies like us, but pretty much everything is covered under the Help link up top, which links to useful file...

As for 1., you should make everything plain text first; copy and paste everything from Word into Notepad (if you haven't downloaded TextPad yet). Copy and paste from Notepad into any Web fields after saving the file as a .TXT format file within Notepad. Honestly, I do the process in reverse, writing...

Take a SIP! Choose a "statistically improbably phrase" that your piece has that is not likely in other articles. Put the whole phrase/sentence in quotation marks and google that. I just put "The ideal game must include two other elements: artificial intelligence and player-created con...

Yes, sorry Ed, my intent wasn't to do an end-run around the CC system, only to let Qwerty know there are authors who can meet his needs.

Absolutely, Mr. Qwerty. I honestly didn't think there'd be much call for such on a general content site, so it's a lucky day for both of us. :D

I've taken "get on the plane" in a more literal sense: do what you need to do to get the material for an article. And to take the phrase even more literally, make sure you have a passport. I got a call from an editor asking if I could travel for a few days to preview a piece of software. I...

Howdy

New writer here; thanks Catnipp for letting me use your referrer link.

I was surprised and pleased to see content sales through the Web actually work, as opposed to the Wild West of the dot-com days. I'm not sure if I have anything to say that people will pay for, but we'll see. :)
