Possible article

I recently completed a research project on sustainability. You'd be suprised at the number of people who couldn't pronounce it, let alone knew what it was! Wonder if I can turn that into an article...

MIA

I've been MIA for a few months. A number of reasons but largely because I set up business as a virtual assistant / freelance writer and that has been going exceptionally well. I've also embarked on a study course through distance learning. Not to mention a husband, 3 kids, a cat, a dog and an ancien...

Thanks Kendric, fiction is my first love and I also harbour dreams of writing a fantasy novel - I'm a huge fan of Dragonlance, Robin Hobb, Holly Lisle etc. Experience has taught me that I seem to have a knack for writing erotica and while I'm comfortable writing it, I'd feel happier separating fact ...

Me again - category question this time

Sorry to bug you again, I know it's late over there (beautiful sunny afternoon here in Oz) - with regards to a category for erotic fiction, I'm having a bit of trouble working out, ahem, where to put it. Also, with the piece in question being adult rated, should I take steps to censor my long summar...
It's up to you how you keep it separate. Either include a different byline or create a new account, like Celeste suggested. Whatever you choose to do, mum's the word from the editing perspective.
Thanks Ed and Celeste - I'll put my nom de plume in the byline and hope my...

Alter ego

I er, ahem, am a writer of erotica under an alternative persona. I would like to respond to a public request for erotic fiction but I would prefer to keep my erotica separate from my more mainstream writing. Is there any way I can enable the requester to view my story without it being made generally...

Blogs

I'm trying to get my head around blog articles. Are these articles with a more personal viewpoint or would they be classified as articles with a more relaxed style? And who buys them? I have written an article about hobbies which is fairly informal and relaxed but not overly personal - I'm not sure ...

Possible

I have a friend who writes full-time and makes a living from it but she works very hard. For me it's a part-time endeavour. I do other casual work which - currently - pays better and if I was going to work full-time hours, it would be more financially viable for me to do what I'm trained for (Accoun...

Question about industry

I'm often asked to select which industry I work in and, as a freelance writer, I'm never completely sure how to reply so I usually say market research because that's my 'other' job. I'm just wondering how other writers categorize themselves - media & publishing? Entertainment? PR & marketing...

Re: FELLOW WRITERS PLEASE HELP THIS NEWBIE!
Hello, My question for you is this - where can a writer get GOOD editing help for free? I am looking for a program that will catch the "dangling modifiers" and "word usage" I keep getting rejected for. Rebecca
There isn't a program that can do t...
Congrats! That's a great accomplishment! But darn! I'm lagging so far behind the pack these days. Severe morning sickness has cramped my writing style over the last several months. And, well, come to think of it, a new baby probably will too! Oh well, I'm content, but ...

Month end

Thanks for that Ed. I wrongly assumed that because I reached the threshold in August, I would get paid in September but perhaps it was too close to the end of the month. My hubby has started a new job but payroll 'forgot' to add him to the books so it's been a tight couple of months. The kids are lo...

Payment while suspended?

I have sold two articles, one on the 27th July and one on 30th August. I am over the $50 threshold - when should I expect payment? My husband has just been made redundant so we could do with the money. Also, I just had my 3rd rejection so does this mean I am now suspended? Where would I find notice ...

Categories

I just had a bit of a dilemma when uploading an article that could have fit in several article categories (Craft, Fashion and Art). In this instance do I just select that which suits most or can I submit to more than one category?
I have a preference. WHO for humans! When people use THAT for humans, I am one of those pedants who silently corrects them in my head. Ed
Thankyou! I also prefer that rule but I was confused in this case because the person being referred to was deceased. I ended up goin...
