Re: Articles Sent Back for Opinion-Based Issues?
For me, it's a pretty low percentage, like low single digits, but it does happen. Ironically, I sometimes get dinged for not being formal enough. And, as with your example, the advice runs completely counter to what my clients want. Fortunately, it seems to be just one or a few bad editors, so it ha...

Re: Preferred Word Processor?
I am surprised no one has mentioned Scrivener yet, so I will: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/overview It's enormous overkill if all you are doing is CC articles, but part of the beauty of it is that it just gets out of your way and lets you write when you don't need the more advanced f...

Re: Constant Content's Aversion to Promotional Content
Or that it was just too much trouble and too time consuming to go after buyers each time they didn't include the byline or changed an article they purchased for usage rights only. See, I thought about that, too, but nothing I've seen here ever suggested that they spent much time going after violato...

Re: Constant Content's Aversion to Promotional Content
There are a few ways I think they are falling behind, personally. No images, no links are two I can think of. Or removing the Use license, for that matter. Maybe there were other reasons to do so, but it seems like it artificially shrinks their pool of available content. I guess the contention was ...

Re: Anyone else experiencing this glitch?
Yes, I just noticed this happening on mine, too. I never use Best Offer, though, so it's probably not related to that. Never ran into this particular glitch before this month. Lysis' explanation seems most likely although there must be something else going on, or it seems like this would have been a...

Re: Non-pool, non-request, waiting status?
I could email them. But we both know how that usually goes. But my question was more about how they got in that status in the first place if they hadn't been for a request. I see someone else just posted about the same problem so apparently it's not just me... and in your reply there you ment...

Non-pool, non-request, waiting status?
So I pulled up my article list today and saw that a few recently submitted pieces, which had already been reviewed and approved a couple weeks ago, are now listed as being in "Waiting" status. I had thought that was only for pieces that were submitted to a specific request, while the reque...

Re: How do private requests work?
Just to make it crystal clear, you have no protection at all. Don't invest more time in a private request than you are willing to lose. Like Lysis suggests, it's become increasingly common to get burned on them. I don't do them anymore unless it's so quick it's worth the risk or I think the content ...

Re: Quiet times here at Constant Content?
Glad to see this thread here and find out it wasn't just me... it sounds even from the positive posts that almost everyone is seeing a general decline in catalog sales. Private sales, to me, are basically a gamble, and it's nice that it's paying off for some folks but it could just as easily not, an...

Re: ANOTHER Flaky Client
Good call!Luckily, I had the foresight to do 1 and ask for payment before moving on.
I sold one of my unclaimed ones for pretty close to the negotiated price to someone else, so at least there is that option... assuming that the articles are general enough that someone else might be interested.

Re: ANOTHER Flaky Client
I'm not taking them anymore unless I think the article has enough general interest that it will sell anyway, even if the client flakes, or if I think it will be fun and I can whip it out with little effort. I did something similar to you on the last round, Lysis, making sure I got payment after each...

Re: Not receiving multiple customers' messages
I don't know if this is the same problem or not, but I just logged in this morning and found a new response from a customer in my CC inbox... which they had sent almost a month ago. I have actively corresponded with several other customers in that period so it's not like nothing was getting through....

Re: Casting Call rejection question
Thank you both for the replies. Doesn't sound like it's worth the trouble if there is no real "approved" way to respond. Now: to figure out how to opt out of the damned useless Casting Call emails!

Casting Call rejection question
I'm a little confused about Casting Calls, I guess. I just received one that had a very specific format in the call, which I followed, only to have it almost immediately rejected in editing. I didn't see any way to submit it specifically for that request (it didn't appear in the list of public reque...
