I would contact a member of CC staff directly via email with the link to the website in question and to your article. They have surely dealt with this before and will have the best advice for you! It is in their best interest for this NOT to happen so I'm sure they'll be able to help.

I keep a detailed spreadsheet with all of my article titles, their categories, word count, and price. I then track how many days it takes from editor acceptance to the sale. The right price really does differ from category to category so I find that the only way to figure it out is to just experimen...

I've responded to I think about 5 public requests and had them all purchased aside from one (which has since sold to a different customer). I only respond to topics that I'm interested in writing it.
