Newbie needs help

Post by vickydomino »

Good day everybody, i am very new to this site and i posted an article but it was rejected because it had a link in it. But i have written my second one and i removed the links the title is SHYNESS LIMITS YOU - OVERCOME IT TODAY! I hope it makes sense. Please i will also like to know about appropraite keywords, how to place price for my articles, does placing your article cheap make buyers buy it? How much am i given by the site if my article is for $20. Please i need answers and help to make this place comfortable for me. Please give me tips on how to maximize and improve my writing and get paid. Thanks

Hello,
Welcome to the site. If you haven't already read the guidelines and explored the forums, I urge you to do so. Also, click the Blog link as there's a lot of good information there.

CC takes a 35% cut, so if you sell a $20 article, you would get about $13 so keep this in mind when pricing your article.

While some may disagree, pricing your articles cheap doesn't necessarily ensure sales. I remember seeing an in-depth article listed for $5! This article was featured in the premium content section and I don't think that it has ever sold. It may have (I haven't checked recently) but I recall that it was listed for months on end. Write decent articles on popular topics and charge a reasonable fee that compensates you for your time and talent and you'll likely see success. Take a look at what is selling, check out the requests, read the resources this site offers, and keep asking questions. It takes a bit of time to get it but it's worth the effort.

Good luck!

I agree with Celeste. Pricing cheaply does not necessarily mean more sales. I've started keeping records of my articles and sales. I like to figure out how much I make per word on average. I sold a couple of articles really cheaply when I first started and then did the maths and figured out I had sold an article for less than a third of a cent per word. Ouch! It is not worth the effort of even submitting the article to the CC website, let alone the time I spent writing and proofreading it before submission.

I'd rather write one article a day of a high quality, than seven rushed articles I have to sell for less than $10. I often sell a single article for more than the price I would get for 7 x $7 articles. I do know other authors feel differently, though.

I've had some articles priced much higher sell quicker than those I have priced cheaper. I think some customers realise that if I value my work as an author, I have put a fair amount of effort into it, and it is worth their purchasing my work. Customers at CC want quality content, not stuff that has just been thrown together with no thought or effort. I also use the best offer system, so that if I have priced the article too high for a customer, they can make me an offer and I can decide whether or not to accept the lower price offered. I generally make more money on the offer than I would have by pricing under $20 to start with.

Anyway, there is my two cents worth on pricing. Good luck. By the way, proofreading and editing will assist in getting articles approved. Watch out for the errors in everything you write (even forums) to practice the high quality writing CC prefers.

Good luck,

Hayley
