Hello. Aisha here, writing to you from London. I've been looking around here for a while, doing some undercover research on the site :-), and i think i'm going to like it here.
I already got my first article accepted which thrilled me to bits because i didn't have much hope after submitting it and then reading the rejection area of this forum.
So anyway, thanks for having me.

Re: Hello Everyone
Hi Aisha,
Welcome to CC! It is fun to write for here, and even more fun when articles sell. My suggestion to all new authors is to focus on building up a good portfolio of decent articles, as many customers do not make requests and you just never know what's going to sell when.
Hope you enjoy writing here.
Kind regards,
Hayley

Hi Aisha and welcome. I just replied to another Londoner so I'll ask you the same question. Are you north or south of the river?

Re: Hello Everyone
Aisha,
Welcome aboard. I think you'll like it here a lot. I love it personally, and I haven't been here that long. Hayley is very right. Build up a decent number of articles, but don't be discouraged if they don't sell right away. You'll wake up one morning, and you'll find that an article (or several) have sold. That'll put you in the mood to write a hundred articles that day with a smile.
The thing I like the most (besides the money) is the fact that I don't have to search for publishers. Emailing articles and such to magazines and ezines could take up to two months to hear back from, and using snail mail can take four months or more. That, and you can't submit that article to other publishers usually.
Here, it's like a candy store. The customers can wander around the store, sample the various flavors, and fill their shopping carts with their favorites. Here, you can also haggle. That's not the case most of the time when dealing with mailing/emailing individual articles. Here you have the option of setting a rock solid price, or checking the "best offer" option. If you don't like the offer, you don't have to accept it.
Good Luck,
Barry

Thanks for the welcome :-)
jak, i am from the south.
Thanks for the advice. I'll build up a few articles first and then hopefully make a sale.
See you around :-)

Hi Aisha.
I'm a fellow newbie and fellow Londoner.
I've been watching what's been selling over the last few days, and if there's a pattern it's that a whole batch of articles on similar subjects will all go at once. That could mean either that someone made a request for material on that topic and then came along and chose what they wanted, or maybe someone came along on spec and picked out existing material that fits in with their site.
If you're writing on spec, the upshot of that is your article might sell immediately, in a few months time, or never, depending on who comes along and when. And if you write a bunch of articles on topic X, don't get discouraged if they don't sell quickly, because when they do, chances are several will be taken at once.
