Hello everyone, this is Vimlaksh from India. I have already signed up on many freelancing sites but I must accept, I am most impressed and happy to have stumbled upon CC. Why stumbled? Well I just came upon a blog that listed some drawbacks of Associated Content and recommended CC as a better alternative.
What I found best about CC is the freedom to price our articles as per our judgment instead of someone throwing $1-3 per article. But what I really wanted to know from the CC veterans and other accomplished writers is, can I make a living through full-time freelancing? Right now I work as a content writer and have nearly two years experience in the field but I wanted to switch to freelancing full time. But as I asked before, is it worth the effort and patience required. I am most willing to wait as I know that no one can taste success overnight, but will it eventually count? or should I stick to part-time freelancing?
Thanks and eagerly awaiting your advice.
I am happy to be a part of CC!

Hi Vimlaksh,
Welcome to the site. It is certainly possible to make a decent income freelancing for this site, but it does take time to build that success. My suggestion is to take the time and build up a decent portfolio of articles. Some articles may sell quickly, others will sit for months on the site before the right customer comes along. You do need to read over the submission guidelines extremely carefully. In the blog section, there are links to sites that explain the grammar, like use of commas, punctuation marks, etc, sentence structure, concise writing, and unique writing that CC looks for in articles. There is also heaps of useful information in these forum pages. Finally, proofread, proofread, proofread before submitting. Any errors, like your misuse of the word accept in your post, will mean your writing is rejected. After three rejections you may be locked out of the site, on the discretion of the editor. If you submit quality, well-written, and unique articles that meet the submission guidelines in the first place, you will succeed as a freelancer on this site.
While responding to public requests is a good way to build up relationships with customers, who may then ask for private requests too, you will need to write articles on a variety of topics that are not specifically requested first too. Many customers browse the recent articles, or search for a specific type of article and buy from the selection of articles already available rather than wait for requests. This means that submitting articles regularly on a variety of topics is the key to real success here at CC!
Best of luck,
Hayley

Thanks Hayley, your post was really helpful for a newbie like me and I surely will have to brush up my grammar (especially punctuation) before I submit my first article!

No worries, anytime. Everyone here is pretty friendly and keen to help. Ed links very helpful documents to the forums too, so spend a while looking for those helpful web pages. Those rejections on "comma usage" are frustrating - I know!
It is worth the effort though! I feel I have improved as a writer in my time at CC, and I love writing here. Getting up in the morning and seeing accepted articles (and even better sales) is great fun! The time difference is because I am in Australia - where are you from?
Anyway, feel free to ask questions on the forum as you get your head around how the site works.
Kind regards,
Hayley

Yup Hayley, i will do so, thank you. I am from India, as I mentioned in my first post. I have to admit CC is pretty huge with many resources, though in the first instance, I didn't feel so.
I was also curious to know whether our forum profile is linked with the CC writer's profile? bcos I learnt that the CC forum database is visible to the search engines, whereas the CC main content isn't.
Regards,
Vimlaksh

Whoops - sorry I obviously wasn't paying attention.
I'm afraid I don't know about the profile links - perhaps someone from CC can chime in here and let you know.
Best of luck here,
Hayley

From my poking around, the answer is no. The forum profile and the CC profile are two different nuts. Anyone can search the forums.
Welcome to the site by the way.

Thanks Barry,
Even I came to the same conclusion.
