Hi there, my name is Jess and I am very happy to have found a freelance site such as this one. I have been reading over everything for almost two days now. I wanted to do my research before I posted even a single greeting. I have found a great deal of wonderful information within all of the forum topics and I will be sure to keep up on the latest topics, as I do not want to miss a single thing. And I certainly do not want to get banned, suspended or have an article rejected. Although I suspect that most writers here have had at least one article rejected at one point or another.

Also in reading the information contained within the forum threads from the Questions and Answer forum, I am happy to see that the Editors on this site take so much time out to respond to our concerns as writers here. Especially when it comes to stolen content.

This is my first experience on a site such as this, as I am coming from a penny a word site and had no idea that articles were being sold for such prices. In a way it makes me mad that those sites do not explain the difference in rights usages (something I learned from this site) and they don't explain that the work we have been slaving over for them could have fetched probably about 150% more than it has gotten. Live and learn I suppose.

So I want to thank everyone in advance for the uplifting and inspiring things that i have already read and learned form these forums and from all of the links for the authors. I will be reading everything over again to make sure that I have got the basics down before I submit my first article, as I want to submit my best work.

What a great attitude you are starting out with! If you keep thinking that way, you should do well. I too came here from a slave-wage site and have been thrilled and gratified to find buyers who will pay good money for good work, not to mention the excellent staff and supportive community of writers.

Be sure to let us all know when you get your first article accepted.

Hi Debbie, thank you for the encouragement. I have read many of your posts over the last two days and you are always so very helpful and kind to everyone. The think that I am liking most about this site is everyone seems so much like a family. Everyone is always so helpful and never ever demeaning to anyone else. I can definitely get used to this. On the other site (that I am still writing for until I get my feet wet here) I had asked a simple yes or no question as to the scope of the article that was to be written and all I got was a "Hurry Up and write it already." A buyer wrote that to me. So I think I will get along just fine here.

And believe me that as soon as I get up the courage to submit an article without fear of rejection (lol- reading some of the stories on the forums I am starting to wonder) I will be sure to post the outcome. Thanks again, and keep up the encouragement! I am sure it means a lot to all of us newbies here, I know it does to me.

Welcome. The CC community is second to none! It's so interesting because technically we're all vying for the same opportunities and clients but yet the community is amazingly supportive of one another. Snarkiness here is rare and everyone is geniunely nice but we still manage to have a little fun on the side, too. You'll see a few disagreements and you'll see our passions sneak in from time to time but for the most part we are a civil and respectful crowd.
