Looking forward

Post by libby »

Hi There,
Since there was no response to this, my first post. In the New Authors topic a few days ago I'll try again here. I'm libby and hope to hear from someone and get to know you all.

Newest newbie with a question. On the author registration page the name of someone specific is listed as a referral source. I do not know this person although I recognize the name from the forum. He certainly didn't refer me. What is the reason for this? I could not delete it.

I've yet to submit content but am looking forward to doing so. I have greatly enjoyed perusing the site and reading through the forum. The outside links to information have been valuable too.

Thank you very much.

I noticed that back in February someone alerted the site that the link to the FAQs for Authors that is on the first post on this topic actually takes one to the Customer FAQS. That hasn't changed. Thought I'd give a gentle reminder.

Looking forward to being here! libby

Hello,

Sorry if your original post was overlooked. Welcome to CC!

It's been so long since I signed up and the site has been through a few revisions since then, so I'm unfamiliar with the referrer field that you are seeing. However, it is possible that someone (even someone you don't know) actually referred you here. For example, if you found CC via a Google search and landed on another writer's blog talking about how great CC is, or even an ad for that matter, and you clicked a link to check out Constant-Content, then it's likely that the link contained an affiliate code which then gives credit to the original referrer. So, even though you might not personally know the individual whose link you followed, the person who created the link and pointed you here is your "referrer." This person will get a small percentage of any sales you make.

Man, I wish I knew who referred me :) I landed here somehow but I have no idea how. I'd love to send a little thank you because CC has been awesome! I'm so glad I found this site.

Thanks Celeste,
Sorry it took so long to respond. I got caught up in first submission. Once I registered I saw the affiliation section, but thank you for the response and the info.
Yours,

Hey libby,

Welcome to CC! Thanks for the reminder about the FAQ. I'll see what I can do to fix that up.

As for the referral link. One way that people can make money through CC is by referring other people to the site through their referral link (You can see your referral link on your account status page). People put this link onto their blog, twitter links, facebook page and when someone visits the site and signs up, if they have come to the site through the referral link then the person who posted the link gets the credit for 5% of any of the sales that are made by the new author. Note: the 5% comes out of the Constant-Content 35% cut, so you won't lose a thing by signing up through a referral link, its just our way of thanking the person who has referred another writer to the site.

We've had some debates, at least internally, about showing the name of the person who's link you visited the site through (that's what you saw!) on the sign up page and after fielding support emails from both directions. ie. "Hey I am trying to referred by so-and-so and I can't tell if I am" vs "Who is this referring author and what are they doing on MY sign up page" we decided to leave the name there. Occasionally, people write to those who have signed up through their link to encourage them or help them get their first couple sales.

If you have any other questions, you can post on the forum or send a note to support@constant-content.com
Good Luck!
