Hi folks, I'm Phil. I am brand new here. I have two articles in the system. I just found out that one of them was accepted. I do a bit of freelance writing at other sites as well. But, I have to admit I was a bit intimidated when I first read the rules here. Now that the first one was accepted I hope to write more as time permits. I am a retired US Marine. My daughter is a Marine and so is my son-in-law. I've also got two angels for grand daughters as well.
Since I am not a writer by education or training any critiques are accepted gratefully. Tips are great as well. If you check out my blog you'll see that I am still trying to learn the trade instead of the "tricks of the trade".
Ok, I'm officially rambling on, and on, and on...
Have a great day.
Phil

Howdy back, Phil, and welcome. Plenty of untrained (yet talented) folk here. CC is a great place to test your writing talent.
And whereabouts is your Texas "high ground"? Did you perhaps mean the hill country? We have family there, and we lived just across I-35 from the hill country for awhile. We miss it...
Hope you do well here.

Hi, Phil!
Welcome to this great community of writers. I have learned so much from reading the forums since I signed up a month ago. After reading your profile I can see you will have a lot of interesting things to write about.
I live in the high country of New Mexico, about a mile high and 30 miles south of Albuquerque. Just a hop, skip, and jump from y'all in TX.
Now you've had an article accepted, it's just a matter of time till you get your first sale! So thrilling

Re: Howdy!
Hi there Emma and Debbi. Such pretty names for gracious ladies indeed.
Emma I live just outside of Lubbock Texas. We call it the high ground because we live on a caprock. It isn't the literal highest point in Texas but we are in the top ten percent I think. I have visited the hill country several times back when I was on active duty. Loved it.
Debbi, didn't I just read about you having a great day? One with bragging rights attached? Way to go.
Nice to meet both of you. Don't be strangers.
