Hi all, my name is Rita Fae Harris. I joined a little less than a week ago. So far, this looks like a nice place to work.
So....It is currently 11 AM and I am bored out of my wits. I should probably be doing the dishes, but that is what kids are for. So here is a very, very, very long read.
I don't understand what the affiliates are, and I do notice that when I sell an article, part of my payment will go to them. I assume this is for advertising. Is there a way to get the list of affiliates? Or is it just random?
I am assuming it takes more than 48 hours for an article to be reviewed. Are all articles going to be reviewed or do you stop reviewing them after a writer reaches a certain point?
It would also be nice if there was an expansion into the fiction market. I know a lot of websites that are in the sci fi and fantasy areas that are simply under duress because they have one editor serving thousands of email submissions a day. This might be a good market to break into, and since I love to write fiction (unpublished, but I'm lazy like that) it would be kind of fun to add that. And not just in the SFF market, there are the life stories, mystery, and so forth. Just a thought there.
Oh and about me. I'm 29, I have three kids and two step kids. My step kids live with thier mom, my two sons live at thier dads, so during the week it is just me, my daughter, and my man. The weekends are full of insanity tho.
I live on the edge of the Umpqua National Forest in Oregon. There is not a country that God has blessed with more beauty.
I worked at Dell as a customer account manager for 3 years. I made a lot of money and then I quit because the corporate life nearly killed my family life. So now I work at home, freelancing, writing some business proposals, and other tasks that are keeping the roof over our heads. Prior to working at Dell I was a team leader for Certified Nursing Assistance in a local nursing home--thats like a manager that can not hire or fire anyone, just report stuff. In between my nursing home time and Dell, I worked as an in home care provider, which I loved.
As far as my education goes, I spent one year in nursing school, and I hated it. I internalize everything, so I spent a lot of time crying when I got home. Not a condusive environment for my children. I spent two other years at the community college just working on an AA, and the last several years I have been slowly chipping away at my master's degree. I have about a year left. I know, not an amazing feat, except that I have been doing this for a very long time, and have always worked full time, raised my family and so forth. When I graduate I will be the first person in my family to graduate beyond an AA.
So now you all know me. Well sort of. Ignore the bad grammar and spelling.
