I just started here and have submitted my first article. *Keeping fingers crossed*.

I have a question for you folks, should the spell checker for all our articles be American English or British? Because I noticed that when I post on the introduction window of the article, it flags some spelling that is correct in the US.

What do you folks do? Do you change it? if you don't, does it get rejected?

I hope to make some friends here and hopefully get someone willing to share their experience so I can be more productive in this site.

I got the same thing. It's my first time to encounter this spell checker thing and honestly, I really don't know what to do yet.

Welcome, Olivia! Both American English or British English are acceptable, as long as you are consistent. The spellchecker that flags certain words when you paste your content is part of your browser settings and has nothing to do with CC.

Just to throw in my two cents' worth, if you're submitting to a public request that's clearly from a Canadian or British customer, you need to go with standard British spellings. I'm a Canuck and can tell you that, in general, any word with an -or suffix in US English will need a 'u' to comply with British spelling (as in endeavour, colour, clamour, honour, etc.). There are some reliable lists of the variants available on the web, and my copy of the OED lists most of them as well.

I have a couple of Canadian customers as well as a couple of European ones who prefer US spellings because they're appealing to a US market. If in doubt, ask.
