"Please see comments to the right" - there are no comments!

I had an article for a private request rejected this morning with the message "Please see comments to the right." However, no editor comments appear in either the resubmission form in the browser, or in the downloadable RTF file. The content form says "to see editorial notes, click on any green highlighted X's in the right margin" - but there aren't any.

What am I supposed to do in this situation? This isn't the first time this has happened, but unfortunately I can't remember how I resolved it last time.

You have to scroll down the actual content text box to see notes that are far down the article. Not sure if that sentence makes sense. It's a bit of the bubbly time.
