First Person POV for Blog Posts -- Clarification Please

Post by jdmerc »

Are first person POV articles acceptable as blog entries?

I ask because of the following submission guideline on CC:

"Blog posts are still "articles," but in a less-formal style and may be in first person voice"

I submitted a blog entry that was in the first person POV, but it was rejected with the following remark: [b]"Please review our policies on first-person pov/narratives/accounts."

I wrote this one specifically as a blog entry for CC, based on the above quoted submission guideline. Please take that into consideration.

Blog submission title: "American Politics: Dumb and Dumber?"
Submitted under: Blog > Politics

Thanks for your help!

We are trying to stay away from these because of the reasons outlined in the Constant Content blog post. Even the most successful blog authors shy away from first-person. First person should really be limited to personal blogs or blogs that can be followed by a devoted audience where the blogger has built up a relationship with his or her readers.

I'm working on getting the guidelines changed. So sorry for the confusion.

Thanks,
Ed
