Got my first rejection! It's official; I'm a writer! OK, the semicolon got me in trouble last time and I vow to remove it from my writing. Can you tell me if your comments about following submission guidelines is part of the form letter e-mail or if I specifically had problems there?
Thanks for the editing help. Rejection makes you want to crawl in a hole, but is helpful once humiliation is conquered!

Hey - don't feel embarrassed. Just resubmit with your article in a subcategory (Religion, most likely) and the semicolon problem revised, and you're good to go.
That part about following the guidelines is just a part of the form letter. Some people submit and don't even realize we *have* guidelines!
Our writer community here on the forums tends to be (most often) friendly and full of good advice. You may find it beneficial to peruse old threads or start one of your own if you have particular questions.
Thanks,
Ed

Thanks for the encouragement. I couldn't figure out how to submit to a particular category but will look more closely at that when I resubmit. I have looked at some of the forums and found that they are very helpful. Thanks for that advice...I'll keep watching. By the way, I feel for you! You seem to be the most patient human being on earth. After reading some posts I thought that I would pull MY hair out.
