Rejected re: summary

Post by writeon335 »

My article was just rejected...first one. Sorry Ed. I do have to say, in spite of what some of the other authors are saying on this site, you made it perfectly clear to me "why" you were rejecting.
You rejected it because I stated in the summary that it was previously published by me and listed the website. I get that, but I'm confused because the first 2 articles that I submitted, I also stated where it was previously published, and those 2 articles were accepted. I did that because I was afraid you would reject them for not being original content and I remember reading one of these posts about submitting previously published pieces and someone said to let you know where we had published it. I don't know where else to do that except the summary. Am I missing something? Is there another place that I can write a little note to you about my submission that no one else can see?
Also, I did go in the summary of the 2 accepted articles and take the comment about where it was previously published out once you accepted the article and posted it to the site. Frankly, I was surprised it was still in there. For some reason, I just assumed you would remove it as that note was intended for your info only.

So my point here is, and my question, do I need to worry that you will think it is not original content if I have it posted elsewhere? I just want confirmation that I do not need to state that anymore. Can I assume that since I use the same pen name on both sites you will know it is mine if it comes up on your copy software?

Anyway, thanks Ed. My first three articles were accepted and I'm so glad because I am new at this and not sure how I would handled a rejection on my first try... Also, I think CC is great so far and looking forward to getting the hang of it and my first sale!!

If you're asking "usage rights only," and your name matches with the name under which the article was previously published, that serves as verification for CC that the work is original to you. Some authors don't know they can edit the short summary, so I try to make sure that information about the location of previous publication is kept out of short summaries. I'm glad you've discovered you can do this, and thanks for removing this information.

The short summary box is the place to leave any notes for the editor. This practice is most effective if the note is placed before the actual short summary.
