Seeking Advise and Sincere Help

Post by Hector »

Hello Everyone,

I am Hector. I am new to this domain and a novice to the professional writing world. I am not a native English speaker and still learning the tricks of this trade. At CC, it seems like, I have stumbled on an alien platform.

My article got rejected..np whatsoever wid dat. I took it bravely or at least I think I can pretend well enough. :D

Some questions that I need answers for:

1) I have no resources for proofreading, any clues or help on this front anyone.

2) Ed, if you remember (I know its really difficult for you to remember) the title of the article was "Creativity of a writer." I checked it 10 times and every time I check it, I change the construction coz I am totally unsure about my article. I just check it by my gut instinct. So any advise on how to correct this habit is also welcomed.

3) I think that the level of CC is beyond my abilities presently, so any advise on how I can hone my skills, especially grammar. However, I would like to cross-check this assumption just to be sure. In CC forums', I have seen that some writers have been rejected yet doing very well over here. I just wanna cross check if I have any chance of surviving at this level. Any help or parameter that would help gauge my writing prowess. Kindly reply! I take my writing very seriously.

Hector,

If you want the honest answer to your question, this venue is for writers who have a solid grasp of English grammar and writing rules. If you are doubtful of your own skill level, it is recommended that you take some time to practice somewhere designed for beginning writers.

You might also try writing and English forums that can give you feedback and answer your questions. There are many grammar guides on the internet, but some are better and more complete than others. The following is pretty comprehensive, but because it is so comprehensive it can sometimes be difficult to find the information you are looking for:

When you search for answers to your grammar and writing questions, try to determine the level of authority of the site. University websites are some of the most reliable references, but there are also independent grammar experts that offer advice and information you can trust.
Example: Grammar Girl - http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/

Tips for proofreading your own work can be found here:

Good luck in your writing journey.

Thanks,
Ed
