Question about spacing

Post by SMCarson »

Hi guys,

I'm so embarrassed that I got a rejection for font and spacing! OOOOPS. I have a problem though. I can't figure out if it's supposed to go like this:

This is the topic heading
This is my paragraph, blah blah blah blah etc etc etc etc.

OR

This is the topic heading

This is my paragraph, blah blah blah etc etc.

I understand we need a double space between paragraphs, but when each paragraph has it's own heading does it also need double spaced from the paragraph or just single spaced as the first line of the paragraph.

I hope that makes some sense.

For other articles I've submitted I have double spaced the paragraph heading away from the paragraph and it's been accepted, but I have seen some on here where the heading is just above the paragraph but single spaced, part of the paragraph itself. So I am confused if the spacing is the issue.

I space my articles like this -

This is my topic heading
This is my paragraph, blah blah blah.

This is my next topic heading
This is the next paragraph, blah blah blah.

I also always bold my topic headings, to separate them from the rest of the text. The Eds have never had a problem with my spacing, so I'm guessing it's okay.

Did you check the spacing in your summary? Sometimes it changes when you cut and paste. When I submit, I always double check the spacing - you just never know.

Ohhh I do have a problem with fonts and spacing. I do use Times New Roman 12pt, black for fonts. I put a double space between paragraphs. My question is: do we have to put a space between paragraph lines too?

Does it have to look like this:

XXXXXXxxxxxxxxx - first line
YYYYYYYYyyyyyyyy - second line in the same paragraph, or:

XXXXXXXXXXxxxxxx - first line

YYYYYYYYYYyyyyy - the second line????

I feel completely lost in the fog. :?

Some people place spaces between the heading and the paragraphs. I believe that's fine too.
