Dilemma on 'Best Offer' article...

Post by missymoo »

Hi all,
I have a dilemma and I'm not sure what to do (or what I CAN 'legally' do!).

I received an offer for an article yesterday, which I accepted. The person hasn't bought the article yet.

Today, I've had another offer from someone else (slightly higher amount) for the same article.

Can I accept this as well and just see who buys first? Are you allowed to do that?

Thanks in advance for any advice or insight!

I would email support with this dilemma. This situation is unprecedented and a protocol should be developed.

Many thanks for your speedy reply. I have emailed support and will post their response here once I have it.
Thanks again! :D

Okay, I've just had a reply from support, and basically they've said it's first come first served, so it's up to me what I do.

Needless to say, I've accepted both offers and I am now hoping the highest one is the one that buys it! lol

Thanks again Ed for your help. Hopefully this post will be found by other writers who may eventually find themselves in a similar (delightful) position!

I think the fair thing to do is allow the first guy a reasonable amount of time to act on his offer. If it's only been a few hours, it wouldn't be right to accept someone else's higher offer. If it's been weeks then that's a different story.
