Payment rates for recent requested content
What is the feeling about the offered payment rates for recent requested content. I'm fairly new at CC but they seem low to me?
I can't speak from a writer's perspective, but it seems to me that they are pretty normal?
While you should always give articles prices that are right for you, one consideration for a buyer may be how much money can be recouped from the purchase of an article.
So there is a constant push-and-pull between what the writers want to get for their content and what the buyers are willing to spend.
It's an interesting dynamic. But one thing is certain: well-written and well-researched content always sells more readily and commands higher prices. If not to one buyer, then to another.

I think you have to try to base it on some sort of an hourly or per word rate. I know many writers here will figure out how long it will take to research and write an article and see how much they will earn for that time period. If a request is for $10 for an article that will take two hours to research and write, then after CC's commission (that I'm not begrudging them BTW - they do great work) and the Paypal deduction, I'm earning somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 per hour. Not worth it in my book.
Just because it is requested, that doesn't mean you have to take it. Write well and charge rates that are reasonable for your work.

Calculator
Excellent advice! I hope all writers will use their calculators to get an idea of what they are making either per word or per hour. A few recent requests are offering less than .01 per word after CC's percentage is taken out, so it pays to understand the financial side of writing.
And, yes, I agree with the original post. While market prices may fluctuate, there has been a spell of low priced requests for web content material. I've read on other writing boards that this is a pretty widespread problem. If you have the time to nose around you'll read some pretty interesting theories as to why and if the downward trend can be reversed. On the brighter side, some "branded" sites are increasing their pay, without taking rights to your first grandchild and family pet! Hope lives on!!!
