Question Regarding Filenames

What is the maximum character length for filenames?
Are spaces, underscores_ and hyphens allowed?
What characters are not allowed?

I know, seems kind of silly, however, I do know that not all servers have the same capabilities so I felt the need to ask.

We do not have limit, but with that said keep the file names simple as you can.
