Request through Email

I've been receiving emails from Constant Content about specific requests for articles to be submitted by email (rather than posting on the site). I applied for one by submitting my qualifications and a 600 word sample article. Despite numerous follow-ups I heard nothing back. Is this normal? Another one came out earlier that I am highly qualified for. But I'm not sure about putting in the extra effort if I am not going to get any response.
