What is Awkward phrasing?

Post by vinayakgole »

Hi,
I have had a couple of articles rejected with the reason that they contained awkward phrasing. Could someone please help me understand what exactly is awkward phrasing?

Thanks in advance

Phrasing in your articles often does not sound natural to an English-speaking audience. Please visit the "Constructive Criticism" thread in the Author Exchange forum for advice from other authors. I cannot identify specifics because this problem manifests itself in many different ways in your articles.

One problem you have - but not always - is awkward article (a, an, the) usage. If your errors were more consistent, I could be of more help. I suggest pasting just the first couple of lines of a couple of your articles into the Constructive Criticism thread to see what suggestions the other authors have. Hope this will help.
