Is Constant Content a member of the BBB

Post by Risa »

I am very eager to start writing for Constant Content, but i cannot find you when looking on the BBB website. I see that to register i must suply personal info like my birthday address etc, and i'm uneasy to give out that kind of information without being able to check out the company. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
While i'm here i might as well also ask- i've read that authors who write for CC should not use first person. But i checked a few articles available on this site and some did use first person. What's the deal?
Risa- would be cc author- now i hope someone can answer these questions satisfactorily because i'm all ready with my pen-uh 'keyboard' to start writing good articles!

We do not accept content written in the first person. Any existing articles written in the first person are old articles submitted before this guideline was put in place. Please familiarize yourself with our guidelines and follow them before submission.

Thanks,

Risa,

The best place to check out Constant Content is right here. I have joined a lot of "writing" sites in the past. You'll find that ANY site which actually pays its members will ask for this information. They do it for several reasons, but the main two are legal and legal.

First, there are age restrictions in most countries. Anyone under eighteen, if not prohibited by law, must have parental permission in writing. Most websites just skip that part and say, "No one under eighteen may....."

Second, for tax purposes Constant Content needs to have a record of where it dispersed revenues to, and to whom. If you were an auditor, would you believe them if they just provided an email address?

Thirdly, Constant Content HAS to be able to contact you the old fashioned way in the event of a problem. DMCA violation forms, for example, must be physically signed.

There are other reasons, but most of them are for legal reasons.

I was skeptical when I first joined this site. I've seen and joined quite a few "pay for writing" sites over the years. Think of Constant Content more like a high quality market. Instead of spending hours and days marketing your work all over the world, you can put all your work in one place. Instead of cover letters mailed to half the planet, customers come to you. It really is the best of several worlds. (I keep hoping that a site like this one will appear for creative writing as well.)

As for the BBB, any company can register there. All you really need is company name, and you're good to go. Even I have a federal EIN and a state sales and use tax license. Honestly though, this site hasn't failed to pay me in the first week of the month since I joined. Since the payment threshold has been lowered, even more people will be getting paid monthly.

If at some point, you decide you no longer want to do business here, you have the option of deleting your work. Not many online writing sites allow that option. Most online writers sites (in the fine print) own a piece of your work once posted. Many even have clauses which state you can never assign exclusive rights to your work once posted there, and they have the right to post it wherever they want. (All of that is supposedly you keeping full rights to your work)

I would recommend Constant Content to any of the writers I know, even my mother. Where else can you post your work, set the price you want to receive (remember to keep CC's cut in mind when pricing), and just walk away if it's not what you had in mind? If I could post the book of poetry I wrote, it would be up already.

Ditto! No need to worry about not getting paid. I've been well rewarded and there's never been a problem. The people running CC are the best that you'll find, too (and the writing community is awesome).
