Long Article (short book)

I have a submission that I can post that would be a great long tutorial on real estate. My question is how does CC feel about "book length" submissions? Also, my 20,000 word submission could easily be a 40,000-50,000 word book if the buyer so desires (obviously I would want a higher fee and CC would be entitled to their share as well). Does ConstantContent discourage this type of submission? I actually already have a 40,000 word version that isn't finished! I would obviously like to indicate that there was a "book length" version available in my short summary. Another option: can I edit the article to say 6000-8000 words and sell usage only so I can retain my rights. ConstantContent is mostly for blogs and internet type articles as best I can tell. Should I submit more "serious" submissions elsewhere, or is there a way to go both ways?

Thanks for your reply in advance. I just wanted to clarify your position on longer content, but I don't want to have your poor overworked editors reading my "books." Thanks again for any recommendations.

Please do not submit your book-length work as one piece. This should be broken into separate articles. Customers (who are mostly web publishers) generally want articles that will attract web readers and keep them clicking around on their site (lots of high-quality articles that cover topics in digestible lengths).

Someone else might chime in here with advice about how to treat this issue/with their own similar experience. While buyers at Constant Content are becoming less hesitant about buying articles of 1000 words or more, the needs and wants of the web audience must still be kept in mind.

Break it up like you would with a serial novel piece for a magazine.

It may require some reworking, but I'd say to break the entire work up into 10k words or less sections. A magazine, and online publishers will not usually take anything over 10k words at a time.

Many even require "novelette" submissions to be broken down even further, but we are discussing a technical subject.

Another benefit of breaking it up into sections is that if the customer really likes the first piece, they may pay a little more for the other pieces.

For CC's purposes, each piece shouldn't probably be over, say, 3k words. In addition, if you were to choose to do this, each piece would have to act as a standalone article:
