Repeated Rejection for Format

Post by lcwasser »

My articles have been rejected twice for not submitting in the correct format. In the reason for rejection, it states: You must submit in doc, rtl or txt.

The first time I submitted an article in txt and the second time I submitted two articles in doc.

So, what's the problem? Is it because I have a Mac? I'm using Microsoft Word for Mac, so I assume I am sending a doc.

Thanks,
Liza

Is it .docx by chance? Do you have Office 2008 on your Mac? If so, the docx format is the problem and the file needs to be saved as the older version of word (.doc) or in a .txt format.

Thanks, Celeste. Actually, Mac allows you to name documents anything you want and does not require the .doc on the end of the name. I think that was the problem. I renamed my document according to PC rules and I will see if that helps.

While the file extension isn't necessarily showing up when you name the document, it is being added whether you realize it or not.

It's not the name so much as the file extension that matters. You can name the file "filename" or "file name" or "File_Name" or whatever, but if the file extension is .docx, it will not be accepted as that format is not universally readable. Word 2007 (Vista) and Word 2008 (Mac) default to the .docx file extension automatically. If you have Word 2008, that is most likely the problem, not the name itself. Check to see if the file is "filename.doc" or "filename.docx."

There was no file extension on your document file - this interferes with your article being opened. Please make sure this appears when you attach your file. It seems you have already figured out this is a problem, so we'll see if all's well on the review end.
