I have managed to find most of the answers to my questions via this forum, except this one, which seems obvious but worth checking.
On customer requests - view description - there is an item saying no. of documents. Now i assume that this is the number of articles they want written and the price stated is per article. I ask the question because if it were Elance customers or similar they tend to expect the whole lot done for some silly price

Yes, the amount stated is usually per article. So if a customer requests 10 articles on a topic and the price range is $30-$40, then the customer is willing to pay $30-$40 per article. You can submit just one or you can submit as many as you care to write. Don't feel obligated to write all 10 as many writers will be submitting as well.
