I just got email stating my first article has been approved. It feels great, however I do have a question.

When I entered the information, it asked for a category for it to be inserted into. Now, 'computers' is very general and seeing as I have had issues sorting through the over 24 pages of articles available. I figured I would be nice and suggest a very viable category for my article.

How are category requests handled? Are articles then searched to see if they would fit a new category thats been added, or are articles that are approved destined to remain in the overly populated general category for the topic?

If the editors feel that the article belongs in a second category in a new category, we will place it there.

However, we do not usually creat categories for a single article, unless the article specifically belongs in that category and there is no other option. Many many categories have been added over the past year, and the result, to me, is obvious and disheartening. More categories does not mean more people will look at your article. Due to the amount of categories we have, articles are getting lost in the shuffle. Just trust us please. We have as much interest in your article getting seen as you do.

This will have to remain the norm until we have a better category system in place. We are aware of the problem and are doing the best we can at the moment.

Thanks,
Ed
