Subheadings + HTML file format

Hi,

The short and long summaries are submitted through the CC's Content Management System (CMS). The article itself is uploaded in a text, rtf or doc file. Most articles are purchased to be posted at some website or e-newsletter. Some websites bold subheadlines in their articles while others do not.

Many Public Requests mention the website the article is being sought for and they ask that the writer take a look to get a feel of the style of articles that they publish. After doing so, you may want to format the article to suit that style.

Three questions :

1) If the website is mentioned and their articles seem to bold / underline subheadings, is it OK to format them in the article written for that website ?

2) If the website is not mentioned, is it safe to bold or underline the subheadings for clarity and division of text ?

(I saw Cheri7777 asking about adding a blank line after a subheading and the responses suggested that either is fine as long as we are consistent).

3) One item in the (latest) Must-Read Resources titled Accepted File Formats mentions the HTML as another accepatable format. The submission system, however, says that only txt, rtf and doc files should be submitted. Does this mean that HTML has been dropped and will not be accepted ?

bold subheadings are perfectly fine. I use them all the time. The bolding will not show in the sample though.

Oh, goodness! I somehow assumed we were supposed to submit with clear formatting (I guess because I wasn't seeing any bolding in the inventory). Thanks for the information on this topic.

I'm not sure about HTML. To be safe, I wouldn't use it.
