Banner?

Post by cosmo »

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but is their a CC banner available that we can put on a blog so when users click and sign up under it we can get them as direct referrals?

There are two ways to get the banner. The first (completely legal) way is to contact support and ask them for publishable jpegs. The second (not legal) way is to right click on any graphic, choose View Image, right click again and save the file as a jpeg, then pop it into your blog. The second method is absolutely a violation of copyright laws and is highly distasteful to boot, but it can be done.

Neither of these methods gets you the embedded link with your affiliate code. There are mysterious ways to embed clickable links into graphics... I don't know how, but I know it can be done. If you're more graphic-design-software-savvy than I am (which isn't hard), you can use Illustrator or Photoshop or a dozen other programs to accomplish your goal, once you have the raw logo.

If you choose to embed the link yourself, write an article about it. :D

To get your personal affiliate code, log in to your C-C account and click Account Status in your control panel. Your affiliate code is displayed on the right.

I had the same problem which I solved by figuring out how to use the logo as a banner and code it from other banners I had. Since the logo is being used to link to the site (and using a logo is fair use anyway when referring directly to a company) I'm pretty confident CC is OK with this.

Here is code you can insert into your blog: You need to change the numbers after the ?aref=##### to reflect your own referral code. You can also change the height and width to match your needs. Good luck.

I can handle spiders, snakes, rodents, snarling dogs, angry teenage girls, and a Husqvarna chain saw, but HTML code frightens me to death.
