copy of content?

Does anyone know if there's any way to get the historical url to content that was posted on constant comment? Isn't it still out there some place?

Here is my situation. I created an article and submitted it. It was approved. Someone then lifted part of it and reposted it. A buyer purchased my article, unaware there'd been a theft. (the thief posted the summary and wrote "explained" instead of "explains," which may be why the theft didn't show up at the time of purchase.) The buyer decided to keep the article anyway, so it's not in my catalog. I have the file log and the original file on my computer, but I would like to have a picture of the file as it appeared on cc. This helps to establish copyright since it shows I published it before the thief did. My catalog only shows the title and the posting date, which doesn't help much.

This article has been taken down, but I'm interested because I want to know how to proceed if this happens again. I tried searching, but the article doesn't come up. I emailed cc but they haven't responded yet. If cc takes down all the links once an article's been sold, don't they keep a copy of the original posting for their own protection?
I may be worrying too much, but I have a feeling I'm going to be dealing with this again.

If you go to My Content, you'll see the title and posting date of all of your articles, including sold ones. Simply click on the title and you'll be taken to a display of your submission with the short summary, long summary, word count etc...

I don't know why I never realized that before. I guess I must have been looking at the "sold articles" page. Anyway, thank you.

It is dismaying to see that we have a writer leaving the site over these theft issues. I wish cc could find some way to stop this. In the meantime, I will fight it every time, even though it's a big pain in the neck.

Celeste, Unfortunately what you suggested won't work to show someone the page. If you try to paste the link, it won't work. Try to copy it or print it, you can't. I understand why cc does this, but I've had two thefts now that weren't picked up by iautheticate and were only discovered after the article sold. Most of the contacts on these websites don't have an email that allows attachments, so I can't send my original file from my hard drive. How am I supposed to prove the article was plagiarized if the buyer decides to keep the article anyway? I have tried to get cc to give me something I can use, but so far they haven't.

What's worse is that someone stole my entire article this time. Cc's site is clearly being hacked-- or something. Please tell them to do something fast! I'm done writing for the public site until I see some indication we're getting a resolution to this problem.

You can take a screenshot of that screen. Use Alt+PrtSc, open Paint, click Control+C and then save your file as a jpeg or similar.

Once again, Celeste, thanks for some great technical information. I wish I knew as much about this stuff as you do. In the meantime, though, cc did come through with a copy of the URL and activated the link again--and even before I got it, I got the site to take down the offending article. I will hang on to this info, though, so I don't have to bother them next time (and you just know there will be a next time, the way things are going.)
