Pricing Articles

Post by Valerie »

Greetings!

I've gone through the old posts to get a sense of how people price their articles, but I'm still feeling confused. So far, I've used the CC guidelines in pricing my articles. Nothing has sold yet; I have 8 articles written over the last few weeks. I'm not overly impatient for an article to sell (though it would be nice!), but I do want to make sure I'm pricing sensibly.

How do others using CC price articles in order to make a fair profit (taking CC's share into account), not underselling yourself and other authors in the process, but not pricing yourself out of sales? Is there a strategy you have for pricing articles and/or marketing for usage/unique/full rights?

Thanks for the advice!

I've talked to a lot of the successful people here, and it's all over the place. I have upwards of 60 articles on the site now and sales seem to have slowed. I don't know if that's because of pricing or what. Some people say to vary your prices. Some clients buy @ $.06/word, some buy @$.10/word. Some people are really cheap and want 1,000 words for $25. Without any kind of metrics from CC, it's impossible to know what's actually selling, for what price, and what keywords to target. A "google-like" keyword research tool for this site would be so very very helpful, along with trends. It's up to CC to implement it though.

You might want to have a look at these posts from CC. They are a little older, but post Panda, I believe the figures are still valid.
