How to submit Requested Content?

Post by wendyb »

Can you explain how you submit articles for Requested Content?

Do you submit them by pasting it into your message in the Questions section? Are you supposed to submit them anywhere else, or just that one way?

Thanks!

Hi Wendy

What you do is submit them as normal (in "Submit an Article"). Once it is approved, you send a QandA to the requester, and attach your article. There is a place at the bottom for you to attach the article to the question. At that point, it is up to them! Even if they do not choose it, you will have the article in the system for someone else at a later date.

At the risk of asking the obvious, I have to ask someone to explain Wendy's question further. I've sent messages to two public requests, and have pasted the link to the page where the article sits. That little box saying Article Number and the underlined word 'find' next to it is puzzling. Upon clicking it takes the clicker to the home page of CC. My writing partner (the other E, who is tech savvy but puzzled as well) and I would be grateful for hints.

That has happened to me a few times, usually when my title contains a question mark. For some strange reason, the link in this area can't handle the question mark or something like that. I have stopped using these marks in my title (along with a note of explanation to the editors and customers) and so far so good.

When that happens, you can go to Authors, find your name in the list, click that and find the article in question. For whatever reason, this link usually has worked for me. I then copy and paste the physical link into my message to the customer with a short note.

I believe you can also find the article's real link in your acceptance email.

You can also contact Support and have them look into it. It's been okay copying and pasting but it would be great if this went away. Who knows how many links don't actually work. I have only found out when customers say the link doesn't work. I eventually put 2+2 together and came up with this question mark theory......

Thanks, Celeste. Interesting you should say that about the question mark - a recent article of ours did have one. (eek)

I never thought about using the link sent to me via email. Thanks for the tip.

I'm still not quite clear...
Does one paste the link into the body of the message, or in that little box underneath saying article number?

If you need to cut and paste a link because the other feature isn't working, just cut and paste it into your message asking the customer to cut and paste it into his web browser. It's not nearly as convenient but it works.
