Re: Posted Articles are now protected from theft
Cool! Thanks for listening to all of our concerns as well.
Re: Posted Articles are now protected from theft
Thanks so much for fixing the copying problem so quickly. I feel so much better now that the articles are protected. Many thanks.

Terrific! Just when I was getting worried, I get to the bottom of the thread and see it has all been solved. Thank you!

I'm so grateful for discussions like these. It is threads, such as this one, that helps newbies like me. Glad to be able to keep up with site developments so as to not break rules.

Yay!! That's the program I was talking about in the second post here and a month or so ago. There was never any kind of response to it, so I thought it wasn't a viable option. Then again, maybe I didn't explain if very well. :) Glad you sorted it. Well-done.

Re: Posted Articles are now protected from theft
On Google Books, it is impossible to copy the text from their reader. I know, because on one of their public domain books, I only wanted to copy a couple of paragraphs (I was researching some genealogy and didn't need the complete book), and it wouldn't let me, so I was forced to download the entire PDF file and get it that way. Is it possible somehow that we could do that?
I like the idea that only registered users could view complete articles. There has to be a solution to this. I haven't sold an article since my first one. I'd hate to think it's because I only gave them 1/3 of the article to view.

Hi, Ed,
I understand the new posting rule and have been following it as a new writer.
But I just noticed that the CC web site for customers still say at least 70% of the article is posted for display. This is more than the 1/3 to 1/2 specified in the new rule.
Should the CC site change the 70% figure presented to customers?
Thank you.

Just a note...
If you right click on any article and then select "view source" for the page, you are still able to copy and paste the content.
The code for line breaks and such will be included with the text, but they can be removed or the content can be copied paragraph by paragraph.
I think most people are aware of this - which means the articles might not be much safer than before.
