public requests

Apologies if this question is obsolete...I am new and have spent quite a deal of time reading forums and info on the site, but have a question without a definite answer....Is there any way of seeing when public requests will close? I would really like to know that, if I spent a couple of days working on articles, the time was well spent. I have questioned the requestor (?) on the issue, but am covering my bases -- seeing who will respond sooner.

Thanks!

There's really no way to know. Sometimes requesters leave their requests open for months on end; othertimes, they will pull them within hours. Then to make it even more confusing, some post requests and are never heard from again. So, you can't be sure of their intentions.

However, you can still write an article based on their request and see what happens. Even if the orginal requester passes, if it's a popular topic, it could very well sell to someone else.

Even with the uncertainty, writing to recent requests is one of the best ways to get started. The topics often have widespread appeal and may challenge you to try something new. :wink:

This is one of the most pressing issues that we would like to fix in the near future. We will keep everyone posted on when it does get addressed. Untill then, make sure that you Q&A potential buyers before you start writing, just to make sure that they are still open. Or limit your writing to the most recent requests.

Re: public requests: Which way did they go? It's been 10 days since the last one.

Come to think of it, Ed's been gone 10 days. Did he forget to leave you the key, David? :?

Thank you for the replies...they are helpful in that I know my wonderings aren't signs of my insanity (in this case). I'll take the plunge on a topic that I like, then nothing will be lost! :)

Well the key has been left to the editor room which means that I may have left the keys to running the business in my other pants. We are just a little slow from the techincal difficulties we have had during the changeover. We are almost finished the basics, and I will now be getting back to the business of getting new buyers to the site.

That's good news - thanks. Actually, I've enjoyed the break. 8)
