I Am an Author but Still Have Questions

I feel dumb about asking this: but, i'm still new here and don't understand everything.
i see that there are public requests, and I want to accept them. However, I don't know how to go about the process. Can somebody please explain what I need to do? Thanks so much.

It's pretty easy actually. Simply write the article, submit it, and then post a link to the customer when it has been approved. This allows the work to speak for itself. 90% of the time, you don't need to communicate with the customer before hand. I do see the surfer requester asks that writers contact him first with the topic they want to write about (to avoid duplicates)

Thanks so much for answering that: however, i have something else i'd like to ask.
I know that articles are typically rejected for containing links/ I found out the hard way. I also saw that the site states that links are not to be included unless requested by the customer. So, if i'm writing an article that would contain links/sources, and the customer and I communicated this back and forth previously that this is what is to be done, what would I do to avoid the article being rejected? Would I specify in the short summary that this is what is to take place and that it is part of a request? Please let me know, and thanks for your speedy response to my last question. It is greatly appreciated. :)

Yes. As long as you let Ed know in the short summary that the customer has requested the links, that should be ok. You can always edit it out of the short summary once it has been accepted, if you wish.

Now, one final question.
If I am giving the customer full rights to the content, and we agreed on the price of fifteen dollars, should I mark all the fields--Usage Price, Unique Price, and Full Rights Price--all the same? Sorry to ask such a dumb question. I just want to make sure i do things right. Once i know, i can get to work on these requests. Thanks again for all your help.

That's what I do for prearranged and private requests. It helps to avoid confusion.
For example, even if they accidently click the wrong button such as usage rather than full rights (it happens from time to time), you will get paid what you agreed upon. One of my customers does this now and then and though I'm paid what I want, the article remains available for sale for usage because of the error. In these cases, a quick note to CC Support letting them know that the customer really wanted full rights and asking them to please remove the article for sale is all it takes. But yeah, I try not to give too many options. Besides, most private requests want full rights. Whatever rights they choose, you still get what you wanted by doing it that way.

Now, what has me confused is the difference between full rights and unique. What are the differences? Thanks for answering all my questions. I checked the site, and I'm still sort-of confused. However, I know that it is a matter of time before I get it all figured out.

The main difference is that with unique rights, the customer can buy your content - and no one else can - He can also use it as often as needed such as on a website, in a brochure, in newsletters , and so on, but he can not change the content nor can he remove the byline. Full rights gives the customer the right to remove the byline and change the content as needed.

Thanks so much. I feel comfortable enough to do some work. Hopefully, they will all be approved.

Celeste, your responses to this post were very helpful. As a new author here on CC I too found this site to be a little confusing. Thanks for the help.
