Question About Public Requests

Hi.

When I write an article for a public request, am I done after I submit it? Do I also need to send it to the client, or is that done automatically?

Also, I've noticed that when you select a publisher from the drop-down, it rolls away when you select a topic. Between that and the fact that I had to re-submit one article, I'm uncertain if a couple of them were designated as a public request.

Is there a way to be certain that an article was or wasn't marked as such?

The info addresses the first half of my post, but not the second half.

Also, how can I find info like this from the main page? The FAQ only has information for publishers.

This information is under "Help" in the gray top nav bar.

I don't know if there is any way to tell if the article was already designated for a public request. I'll do some checking and get back with you.

Hi. There isn't any way for authors to tell which articles have been submitted to requests yet. This is on the to-do list.

Until this happens, it might be best just to keep a running list of submissions to requests written down somewhere for your own records.

Would it do any good to bring the ones I'm unsure about to the publisher's attention, or would I risk being annoying (in case they had already seen and rejected it)?

And thanks again a billion times over. The quick response time is one of the (many) things that sets this site apart.

It is my understanding that authors get an email stating that their article has been declined by the customer, so you may already have a record of this information in your onsite inbox.

Does any other author have some thoughts about this?

If it's not in place, a "Your article ____________ had been declined, and is now viewable to all CC customers" email would be great.

I haven't actually submitted for a public request since the system changed, so I can't tell you any specifics.

I would check to see if the article is viewable. That would indicate that it didn't get designated to the request, right? Because the requester gets to view it exclusively for a few days. So, if you just submitted it and its been approved and it is viewable, then you can assume that the requester hasn't seen it. In this case, the old fashioned way of sending the requester a note and a link would be appropriate. If it is not viewable, then you can assume that it was designated to the request.

I've never received a "declined" email, but I have some public request articles that are viewable on the site. Does that mean, then, that the publisher never saw them?

Update: all of the articles I submitted for this request are showing as sold, except the one I have concerns about. That could be an additional sign that it wasn't seen, as I don't think it differs insanely from the others.
