I submitted an article to a public request. Or I wanted to, anyway.
I checked the box saying it was for a public request, I chose the request from the pull down menu.
But the form insisted that I choose a price and whether I wanted a usage, unique or full rights fee and asked me to choose categories for my article.
Isn't this immaterial if the article is for a request? The buyer offers a price and I assume that the article won't be posted to the content site if it is for a specific customer.
Did I do it right? I read the FAQ and I know what I was *supposed* to do, but I'm not sure if I did it. Is there any way to tell?
Thanks.
Liza

Everything has to be submitted in the same way, with all the boxes completed. If you saw the notice, "Your article has been submitted", you don't need to worry.
If you submit to a public request, the requester has exclusive rights to buy for only three days. After that the article is showcased on the main site and any customer can buy it. CC has to know how much to charge any customer. Public request customers may have specified a price range but still need to know your exact price for whatever option they want. They may be offered many articles they can choose from, and the price may influence their decision if they find equal content and quality.
You need to make your pricing decisions based on what you believe is the worth of your article. You can always tick the best option box if you are prepared to consider offers below the asking price. There are some excellent threads in this forum on the topic. In fact new authors are always advised to take some time to read through the forum as they are likely to find answers to many of their questions here.

Re: Did I submit my article to the right place?
All articles must be placed in a topical subcategory upon submission. This will enable it to be found via search in the event that the original customer declines the article.

Re: Did I submit my article to the right place?
Hi Ed,
I'm confused about the submission process. It's changed since I last submitted an article for request. First I entered the "for request" tab and then went down to the subtopic and chose, education--->distance learning (or something like that) and then finished the form. A message popped up and I started over leaving out the subtopic or so I thought, but that article was approved. I did the second submission the same as the first and it was rejected for lack of sub topic. My question is...should we choose only one subtopic such as education, leaving out the more narrow topic of distance or doesn't it matter? I'll wait to submit any more articles until I hear from you.
Thanks!
T
