Does anyone know how well in terms of accuracy does MS Word catch grammatical errors, punctuation errors, etc? I know that it will not catch usage errors like to and too.

Not that well. I use the grammar checker mainly as a "red flag." I know that if the green squiggles appear, I should double check the sentence. Far too often, the grammar checker is wrong and I leave the sentence as is (or revise to make it more clear after having scrutinized it). I wouldn't rely on the grammar checker at all for anything other than a "reconsider this sentence" tool.
